About Ryoji Imaizumi
Ryoji began his hairdressing career in the late 1990’s, working as an assistant at Bumble and Bumble in New York. The founder of Bumble and Bumble, Michael Gordon encouraged him to become a session hairdresser, and with this advice, Ryoji moved to Paris to become a full time assistant to renowned hairdresser Laurent Philippon. After 3 years working as Laurent’s assistant, Ryoji decided to branch out on his own, first in Paris, followed by a move to New York and he is currently based in Tokyo. During this time Ryoji was the Shu Uemura Art of Hair Creative Director, as well as working for large fashion publications and the music industry.
As a true artist, Ryoji’s work goes beyond the realm of hairdressing; he sees each head of hair as a canvas on which he can express his artistic vision. Through his exceptional talent and commitment to his craft, Ryoji Imaizumi continues to leave an indelible mark on the work of hairstyling, earning him a well deserved place among the industry’s most influential figures.
